Breaking through the Stigma of Disability

To kick off Jewish Disabilities Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion Month (JDAIM), we are inviting Connie Putterman, a TED presenter and a Jewish inclusion advocate from Toronto to share insights with our community during a scholar-in-residence weekend on February 1-2. Connie is the chair of the Jewish Federation of Greater Toronto's Disability and Inclusion Committee and the founder of the Canada/Israel Autism Research Initiative.

    The entire community is invited to a learn with Connie as she shares personal experiences that led her to found the Canada/Israel Autism Research Initiative, a private initiative fostering collaborations between Canadian and Israeli autism researchers. The discussion will address cultural stigmas associated with autism and ways the Jewish community can address them. Please RSVP by January 28.

  • Celebrating Rather than Stigmatizing Difference

    Everyone is invited to join in a conversation about ways we can actively address the stigma of disabilities and celebrate the neurodiversity of our community. The focus of the program will be a panel comprised of Connie and representatives from various local service providers who will address the topic and share concrete suggestions for promoting inclusion.
