Meet Lizzy Savetsky

Lizzy Savetsky is a leading Jewish influencer and pro-Israel activist.

Lizzy started her online journey over a decade ago as a fashion blogger, posting on her blog, Excessories Expert, and Instagram page. Gradually – Lizzy began to share more about her family life, Jewish faith and traditions, and educational content, including “Yiddish Word of the Week” and her daughter’s weekly “Torah Corner.” In 2019, Lizzy changed her handle from ExcessoriesExpert to LizzySavetsky to focus more exclusively on Jewish and Israel content.

Lizzy has spoken publicly about her struggles with alcoholism and her challenges with infertility and pregnancy loss. She has worked to destigmatize these topics and helped thousands to feel less alone.

In 2021 Lizzy dedicated a Sefer Torah to the IDF in memory of pregnancy loss, following a global campaign to raise $57,000 from thousands of individuals, in the merit of the lives that never came to fruition.

Lizzy was a dedicated voice for Israel long before October 7, but in the past few months she has used her platforms to support Israel, interview families of hostages and survivors of the massacre, support Jewish college students, and educate her followers about the increase in antisemitism around the world.

Lizzy is the author of “Thou Shalt Be Beautiful: The Forgotten Jewish Ideal,” which was published by Wicked Son in 2023 as part of the book Jewish Priorities: Sixty-Five Proposals for the Future of Our People, along with contributions from prominent Jewish thought leaders.

Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Lizzy lives in New York City with her husband Dr. Ira Savetsky – a renowned plastic surgeon - and their three children.

EVENT FAQS

• This event is a great opportunity for women to connect to our Jewish community, hear an inspirational speaker who is an advocate for Israel and the Jewish people, and learn more about the work and impact of our Federation.

• For less than a $1 a day, through a gift to the Annual Campaign, you are combatting the rise in Antisemitism, providing food and necessities for those in need, securing Jewish places and spaces, and supporting our future generations through leadership programs.

• The minimum gift of $180 for first time donors or $360 for existing donors goes directly to the 2024 Annual Campaign. This is not an additional gift for reoccurring donors. If you have already made your gift in 2024, then you have made your annual commitment for the year.

• The Annual Campaign provides the basic infrastructure that supports our Jewish community here, in Israel and around the world. This vital work includes supporting victims of terror, providing humanitarian aid, ensuring critical programs and services are available and more.

• The $90 to attend the event itself is not a donation but is a ticket cost to cover event expenses.

Giving Societies

Lion of Judah

The Lion of Judah is a symbol of today’s Jewish Woman’s strength, a symbol of her caring about the organized Jewish world and a symbol of her financial commitment of at least $5,000 to the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis's Annual Campaign.

Created in 1972 in Miami by Norma Kipnis-Wilson and Toby Friedland, the Lion of Judah program has brought together women of all ages and from many walks of life in order to play an essential role in creating social justice, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, preserving human dignity and building Jewish identity.

Members of Lion of Judah World-Wide

Women are eligible to receive a pin upon becoming a member of the organization. Each year that a woman sustains or increases her minimum $5,000 gift, she is eligible to have a small diamond set into the pin.

Pomegranate

The pomegranate is a symbol of a woman's commitment to the Jewish people, based on the 613 seeds in a pomegranate fruit which symbolize the Torah's 613 mitzvot, and a symbol of her financial commitment of at least $1,800 to the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis' Annual Campaign.

The Pomegranate pin was introduced in Lehigh Valley in 1981 by Sybil Baiman and Jeanette Eichenwald. A proven aspirational tool, a woman's pin shines a little brighter each time she increases her pledge. Each step up brings her closer to becoming a Lion of Judah and motivates her to stay with the Federation and complete that journey.

Members of Pomegranate Across North America

Women are eligible to receive a pin upon becoming a Pomegranate. Each year that a woman increases her minimum $1,800 pledge, she is entitled to add a new ruby “seed” to the pin, which is designed to be used for a period of 10 years.
